REVEREND KIM MURRAY

Kim Murray know by her congregation as “Lady Kim” is the co-founder of Anointed Temple of Praise Christian Church (DOC), (ATOP) Memphis, TN. A product of Chicago Catholic Schools, her unique spirit and lively personality was nurtured and encouraged by the nuns, who took a special interest in her and gave her a variety of opportunities to excel. Her gift of song and oratorical articulation made her the obvious choice to represent her school at numerous social functions throughout the city.

A major influence through her adolescent years were her grandparents. They were instrumental in the development of her fundamental beliefs and Christian indoctrination, by advancing and providing numerous opportunities for her to display a wealth of talents that included praying, ushering, singing in the choir, and extending the welcome and occasion at many afternoon and evening programs. These spiritual encounters provided the essence of her Christian experience and spiritual development.

Upon her high school graduation, she attended Bradley University, where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas L. Murray. When Pastor Murray accepted his call into the ministry, she realized that her role, as the “First Lady” was a true testimony to the level of dedication and conviction of her faith, her venerable way of life and commitment to her husband. She assumed the role, as the “First Lady,” proudly advancing numerous causes, providing vital support to their ministry and actively collaborating with the congregation and the community.

The Murray’s partnership embodies the basic origin of teamwork, mutual admiration and total respect for one another’s ideals, values and spirituality. They are blessed with two charming daughters and one son-in-law, Tiara La’Shai Murray and Tiffany Latrice Richmond (Clebron), along with three spirited grandsons, Deion, Noah, and Carter and a joyful granddaughter Jordan.

Lady Kim continued to pursue academic excellence and received her BS in Elementary Education from The University of Memphis (Memphis, TN). She obtained her Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College (Detroit, MI), and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Preaching as Strategic Leadership at Memphis Theological Seminary.

She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and works tirelessly in the Shelby County School System as a Homebound Advisor.

Lady Kim finally fulfilled her vision, by accepting the call into the ministry in 1999. She lends her oratorical skills to speak at various community, church, and civic occasions, as well as a principal cleric at her home church.

As one of the principal co-founders of ATOP she continues to be a catalyst for many of the ministries and programs at ATOP and currently serves as the church’s Executive Pastor.
